The dragon is one of the most unique of all mythical monsters. It has six limbs; four are regular, but extremely powerful legs, while two are its wings.

The uniqueness of this creature is that it is neither reptilian nor mammalian. It is Avian. It is a species of bird that takes a likeness of a large reptile, and so is considered to be closely related to the dinosaurs.

Even so, time has changed this creature. Any sightings of a dragon today would be wholly different from the depictions of these magnificent beasts during the past.

The dragon has hollow bones, which helps in flight and is stronger than the average solid bone. Still, it is too heavy to fly by flapping its wings alone. And so, it depends on its most special characteristic: Its lungs.

The dragon's lungs take up most of its chest cavity, so it could take and hold large breaths and fly over areas of thin air. Not only can it breathe in large amounts of air, inside the Aveolous contains several enzymes that can break down the water vapour and moisture the dragon breathes in into two of its basic components: Oxygen and Hydrogen.

The Hydrogen collected is transported into a special sac connected to the lungs and can be directed straight towards its jaws. The sac of hydrogen helps lift the dragon, and is what the dragon uses to spit out explosive fireballs. In fact, whenever a dragon lands, it needs to breathe out large amounts of fire to use up all the hydrogen in the sac, so it could touch the ground.

Very well reasoned science behind the creature, and very well drawn. The picture has a quaint story-book feel, presented by the coloring style and slightly abstract linework.
